Thumbs up 11/11...VETERANS DAY....let us never forget !!!

we have choices available today thanks to the sacrifices of VETERANS...those who gave their personal freedoms and lives so that America could be the land of the free as it exist today.....remember for many VETERANS enrolling in the service was mandatory and not an option as it is today.

fly your American Flag and take the time to THANK A VETERAN for his/her service....they are what created the USA.

also God Bless those presently serving in all branches of service both here and abroard that they one day will be able enjoy the freedoms and protection that they have enabled for so many....they are deserving of that and so much more often overlooked.

Thank you to all VETERANS...both living and deceased....and their families and loved ones....they made the ultimate sacrifices for which we ALL should be thankful.

    God Bless America......

The Stars and Bars, errr, Stripes and the...

...Marine Corps Flag have flows above my doorstep ever since I stepped foot back in The World after the Vietnam era.

I'm the only one in my entire neighborhood of Republicans who served at all, although I sometimes see blue and, regrettably, gold stars in windows indicating the service or their kids. Typical. How very typical.

You're welcome. But I'd never do it again.

    Thank you very much, Riffraff.

The day means nothing to me but a reminder of many years of my life squandered for nothing, absolutely nothing.

I've seen many, many veterans (including my own Father) arrest their emotional and intellectual development somewhere in the years during their service. They never seem to grow intellectually afterwards so as to continue to mature and take an objective look at what they did and why. The "glory" of having "served" is just too strong for them to be introspective.

As Hat and Riffraff, ably demonstrate in just a couple of posts, a veteran receives honors if he perpetuates the lies of honorable service and "we're the good guys" but he receives hatred and condemnation if he doesn't. Most veterans of combat know very well how they were used and the evil they did. But the honorarium of having served keeps them quiet about it.

It's a good thing I have a thick skin and don't require tribute nor become particularly bothered about taunts. Else, I couldn't be honest about what military service for an empire really is.
