Local do-gooder TV news personality participated in a 10 second commercial on her parent station in which she said that 09/11 brought us all together. Funny, I don't remember it that way.

Anyone else have thoughts on this topic?

Well referring back to a quote by Stalin visited recently here on SFC:

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold:
its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life.
If we can undermine these three areas,
America will collapse from within."

Although there definitely is a move on by this administration and others to undermine the US in these areas, every once in a while something happens that revitalizes one of the three. My remembrance of the events around the time of the attack, was when one of the rescue workers told President Bush after his speech about 'the folks that brought these buildings down,'....."don't let me down." A flurry of patriotism.....whether history determines the effects turn out to be right or wrong.....which will quickly fade into a Viet Nam era of kids getting killed on foreign soil, for no or weak reasons, which will barely make the news from time to time.

Until we are lucky enough to have a Sara Palin type character that is willing to take the reigns, motivate the right people, and drive the country in the right direction regardless of any political implications or consequences, we are all going the suffer the slow painful deathlike demise of a once great country. I really wouldn't want to be any foreign power (something like Mexico for instance) when she sets her sights at making things right....and believe me, she knows how........

Let me reply to your question with a question. When (in your life time) has this Country ever been "together"? I just don't see anyway it is possible, that is unless we were under a dictatorship and were told how to feel.

Together well maybe not, being more on the same page difinitely. I know with all your deep thought and askew way of seeing things, you're gonna throw out all our inadequacies. Yep there's plenty of those, alway's has been. I remember where I was on 9/11. I also remember telling my wife when she called after the "1st" plane hit the tower's, "Honey, it's no mistake. Planes don't fly into buildings".

I remember vividly the number of men (young and old) that went imediatley to "sign up". I realize that will go into your inadequany bin.

I remember flags flying, where you never saw them before. Yes I know a flying flag doesn't mean a heck of alot for some, but..........

How about the lines for people waiting to give blood?

I remember seeing our Country coming around and being behind our then President. Please go back and look at the poll's. Again I know this will go into your inadequacy bin.

I remember a Commander In Chief that didn't immediately annihilate anyone, (facts were gathered first) for this I was proud.

I remember how long the Soviets fought in Afagahnistan without reward, while I remember the short term it took us to bring them disrurpt the whole works. I realize it's not over, maybe it never will be.

I also remember how long Iran had tried to defeat Iraq, again how short a time it took us to topple Saddam.

I know these military actions took place without the use of the "big guns", that would have taken untold civilian lives wholesale. Again I know this will go into your inadequacy bin, as you are against the war's. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

I remember how full the recruiter's offices were and how backed up "boot camp's" were, before the economy went South.

I remember "professional's" leaving their job's just to become an "E-2". Again into the inadequacy bin I'm sure.


While we may never have our crap in one sock. We are still known to pull together when it hit's the fan, instead of being called to arm's by our "Supreme Leader". Or wait for some cleric to call for Jihad. You see Sir that's what makes us "mutt's" who we are. This Country is not perfect by a long shot, BUT it's still the best game in town. That's why I'm stayin' !!!

You and I will never see eye to eye on anything other than a good patch of water to fish, doesn't matter to me. But without seeing the end of this post I can pretty well see where you're gonna carry it. Agenda, agenda , agenda. Please surprise me ,if you can. Frank

Don't remember? You must of been the 10% that disapproved of Bushco...Cause Bushco had a 90% approval rating on several polls after 9/11....So yes, the "do-gooder" TV news personalities were spot on!!!

There was ZERO televised coverage of the first plane on ANY network, but somehow the elementary school had the first plane flying into the the first tower on TV??? and Bush Jr SAW IT?...
