Its been 8 solid days of 25-30 mph winds here in the Abacos. It looks like we have at least through Sunday before it drops off;and thats if the weather man is right--Flip a coin !!
Anyway, when this breaks, it should be on fire out there. No fishing pressure for this long means good things, hopefully. The Whites should be here in good numbers along with the dolphin. The shots at Blues are increasing as well and it wont be long before the BBC starts. We are booked for nearly all the legs and we are double booked for the Treasure Leg. We are really looking forward to a great tournament season!
Spring Break is getting started and we have really noticed an increase in the number of guests at The Abaco Beach Resort. We are getting a lot of short notice inquiries, just several days to a week out. We are encouraging folks, especially the families, to get their date secured as soon as possible with a deposit so they aren't dissapointed when their day comes to go fishing.
Having three boats here in the Abacos helps with the last minute bookings, but coming into Marlin Season, the first guest with a deposit gets the date guaranteed ! We dont like turning customers away, especially the kids.
As soon as the wind breaks and We can wet a few lines, I will get another report up. Till then...
Supposed to be letting up just enough to get out this weekend up in the ft pierce area... not too sure about yall down there. Looking foward to seeing a few bulls under some nicely formed weedlines from the se winds maybe? well we can dream right
We put a 45 lb cow in the boat yesterday, along with several others in the 15 lb range. Flat as a lake out there. Lots of great weed patches, but nothing but jacks and triple tail under them. We worked them hard, but didn't even manage to pull a dolphin off them.
Today, it was steady 6 to 8 ft seas, all close together. Miserable day. We fished north of Guana and did not have a good day. We managed a double hookup on wahoo, but to add insult to injury, they both shook off. That's fishing folks !!
Looks like its gonna blow again, so we will keep you posted. Maybe Saturday...
Brutal here in the Berries too... We had one half day where it glassed out. Yesterday was nice til just after noon then started honkin again... Screamed hard today. A few went out while we spent the day breaking down camp to go to Nassau... I saw no flags in the fleet but Quest said he was 0-3 on blues comming from fresh creek...
Not looking forward to 40 miles of open water head sea in morn...
