Not Tort"u"la... Tort"o"la. I have been to Tortola a few times. We stayed at Nanny Cay and fished the North Drop for pelagics. Can't tell you much about the bottom fishing. I do know the tuna will bite jigs, pulled in quite a few that were busting bait on the surface. Give a little more info on your trip like... will you have access to a boat, hiring a charter, bare bones chartering, beach fishing, what do you want to catch? It's the Caribbean, fishing is good and something will always bite.

Tortola, gotcha! I do not want to charter due to expenses, but will have a boat available.the problem is they are not fisherman, although they will do what I ask.I would prefer to jig but I will troll if that is the best option. Is there a charter fleet there that would give info or should I not even waste my time.I have never been there so I am open to suggestion's.

There are a few charter boats, don't know if they will give up info. Plenty of deep structure to the north of Tortola to jig. Big submerged reef to the north of the island that comes up pretty shallow. On the far side of Anegada you get some very dramatic bottom structure. Would guess about any of the hundreds of islands might be good structure. Just watch how close you get to the remote islands, some wierd people live on those things. Take poppers to toss the rocks and see what bites. You can always troll the drop, although the later in the year it gets the marlin fishing gets slower. But that does not mean fishing is slow, wahoo, tuna and cudas will still bite good. Rig some ballyhoo, drop in a squid chain teaser or two and see what comes to play. Last resort would be to pull swimming stick baits around as you visit the different islands because you are bound to run over a hungry fish. Plenty of tarpon around the shallows, any small live bait will get them to bite.

The Bomba Shack is a pretty funny place to visit. Don't know about the tea, never tried it but do know people who have. If you are there on a full moon... watch out. Also go to a bar called Willy T, its anchored off Norman Island. Both places are BVI staples for thirsty travelers.
