I met Bama at RB this morning at 6:30. We waited until 7 am for Lew to show up, then we went across the channel to get some bait. Bama gave me this defective cast net that wouldn't open right... but I still managed to get one or two finger mullet per cast.
We put a few baits in the livewell and headed down to marker 65 where Lou and Dumont were anchored up, they had put in at EW. We pulled up next to them, and I made a couple casts. On the second cast into their spot, I caught a 18" trout....then I got a 15-1/2" trout. After stealing their fish, we moved around and found our way to the other side of Blue Hole and I hooked a red on the same Spook jr. I got it up beside the boat and tried to lift it into the boat, but it flipped off after I touched the leader, so it qualifies as a Key West Release. It was about 18" long although it might be 20" by the time the club BBQ rolls around. Then I got a ladyfish that I kept for bait for another day.

We moved further west and I caught a little red about 12-14" long on the topwater plug. It was popping at the plug all the way back to the boat and I finally hooked it 10' from the boat.

A Coast Guard boat came by that had twin Hondas on it. It was an awful big boat to be in that shallow of water. We restocked with bait and headed south past El Dora and fished a cove Bama did well in before. There were a lot of big mullet in there but I only got one bite on a finger mullet in there. A little after noon we headed back to RB.

Now it's time for a little siesta!
