Snook in Swansboro,NC- FISH'N4LIFE
12/04/05 Last week while pulling a trawl up White Oak River for Shrimp, Capt. Mike Taylor released a 6in. snook... today while casting a castnet for bait in Bogue Sound, Capt. Rick Patterson caught a 6in. Snook... These guys aren't that old... My guess is one of the hurricanes we had several months ago that rode the eastern seaboard up pushed some eggs or juvenile fish into our waters... this happens every couple of years after we get a few hurricanes... only problem is they can't withstand the cold winters here.... too bad... it sure would be nice to start hooking into Snook with our Reds! I do know of one about 3lbs caught behind Emerald Isle quite a few years ago... never saw the fish... only heard of it...

yeh... I'm beginning to wonder if there are a few mama's way up river that can survive the cold like our other gamefish by laying in the deepest water with muddy bottoms.... just a thought... I wonder if anyone that fishes the upper white oak has ever caught one on hook and line? You gotta wonder if they can adapt to the climate over time... especially if they spawning here and not migrating with the currents and hurricanes...
