Silver Sailfish Derby - Day 1

[Fishing Report]

• All Derby boats are using tournament approved non-offset circle hooks manufactured by
Eagle Claw (model #L2004 series).
• During last year’s Derby, 33 of 35 boats that fished the first day released one or more
sails and accounted for 174 sailfish releases. This year, 46 of 46 boats that fished the first day
released one or more sails and accounted a record setting 659 sailfish releases.
• 150 different anglers release 1 or more sailfish today.
• First sailfish of day 1 - Tony Greaton at 8:04 a.m. aboard the “Native Son”
• Last sailfish of day 1 - Adam Cohen at 4:19 p.m. aboard the “Tails Gone Wild”
• The average catch per boat on Day 1 was 14.33 sailfish, shattering the previous record.
• Other tournament records set included Heavy Weight Fish (59.3 lb. wahoo on Petunia),
Single Best Boat Day (Get Lit with 36), Most Ever releases in 1 day (previously 397 on
2006)....and more!
• On average a sailfish was reported every 43.7 seconds throughout the day.
