Sebastian Inlet fishing report 8-31
08-31-11 WEDNESDAY: REDFISH, MANGROVE SNAPPER, JACKS AND LADYFISH
This morning winds are barely blowing out of the East at 2 mph and there is a very light chop on the water. It's pretty hot even though it is overcast. The no see 'ems are getting their fill from the jetty anglers, be sure to take insect repellent and lots of water if you head to the inlet today.
Keeper Reds have been the main attraction at the north jetty for the past week. We also have seen some that have been over the slot. Mangrove Snapper, Ladyfish and Jacks have been active as well. We haven't seen any Spanish Mackerel and we haven't had reports of Snook for the past couple of days. We haven't had any night reports sent in, night anglers, are you out there? Let us know if the Snook are biting at night. Snook season opens tomorrow, make sure you have your Snook stamp on your fishing license if you are lucky enough to get one in the slot and plan to keep it.

Our first angler today is a regular contributor to our fishing report which is greatly appreciated, Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike landed his 26 3/4" Red Monday morning off the north jetty. Mike reported anglers were using a variety of baits and all were working for Reds. 95% of the Reds that came over the rails were keepers! Thanks Mike!

Photo two is another photo sent in by Mike of C.J. Isom of Palm Bay. C.J. landed his keeper Red on Saturday morning. Nice catch C.J.

Photos three and four were sent in by Skip Stowers of Kissimmee of Mark Holasek of Kissimmee. Skip is a semi-regular contributor to the fishing report and it's always good to hear from our boaters out there! Skip and Mark were out Sunday and Skip reported the conditions were not very good due to Hurricane Irene. The water was muddy and churned up and the tides were severe. The late afternoon produced a lot of Jacks, busting through schools of bait. Tarpon were rolling inside and outside of the inlet and they hooked several Snook that cleared the water. Skip hooked up with something large that had her eyes set toward Bermuda and he was unable to stop her wishes. Thanks for the photos and update Skip!

Photo five was sent in by Nam Bui of Orlando. Nam and his cousin Thang Nguyen and Phillip Ping all got in on the keeper Redfish bite early. They were out on the north jetty last Thursday and all managed to land a keeper Red. Nam's was 25", Phillip's was 24" and Thang's was 21". Thang also landed a couple of oversized Reds that were returned and is holding a good sized Ladyfish he landed as well. Nice job guys!
