02-03-12 FRIDAY: SNOOK, SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM AND FLOUNDER

This morning winds are blowing out of the Southeast at 12 mph and the water is choppy. We have a mix of sun and clouds and potential rain forecasted for today, so dress accordingly if you head to the inlet. There is a small craft advisory in effect from 1:00 p.m. today through late tonight. Always check the coastal forecast prior to going offshore.

The bite has picked up at the inlet, it's not great, but it is improving. The opening of Snook season must have been what the fish were waiting for. We've seen some slot sized Snook hitting live shrimp, over and under sized as well. A few Black Drum and Sheepshead, Flounder on the south side and even a keeper Red landed Wednesday. We have a pretty nice weekend ahead of us, it would be a great time to get out and do a little fishing!

Our first photo today features 12 year old Shane and 10 year old Riley Sullivan of Loxahatchee with a couple of real nice Sheepshead they landed using live shrimp. The brother and sister were camping with their family the last weekend in December. What nice catches, great job Shane and Riley!

Photo two is of Rick Sullivan of Loxahatchee with a 42 lb Red he landed using pinfish. Rick assured us that this big, beautiful Red swam off healthy and happy. What a catch, way to go Rick! It's always best to support the fish if possible, with both hands.

Our third photo is of 13 year old Keegan Peebler of St. Cloud. Keegan landed his 18" Sheepshead using live shrimp on Tuesday. This was his largest Sheepshead to date. Nice going Keegan!

Duc Nguyen sent in our fourth photo today of he and his son who were out kayaking last week. They landed these two C/R Reds simultaneously! What a great day, congratulations guys!

Our last photo today is of Spiro Stathopoulos of Malabar. Spiro landed this beautiful 27" slot Red off the north jetty on Wednesday using live shrimp. Nice job Spiro!
