Sebastian Inlet fishing report 12-30
12-30-11 BLACK DRUM, POMPANO, SHEEPSHEAD, REDS, TARPON AND SNOOK
We have a gorgeous morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Northwest at 8 mph and the water is calm. We have a great weekend forecasted as well, mid 70's, light breezes and good water conditions. Boaters should always check the coastal forecast prior to going offshore as conditions can change very quickly. Go to the inlet and take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend! Be sure to take your camera, as we don't post photos that aren't taken at the inlet or offshore of the inlet.
Yesterday morning the Black Drum bite was fair off the north jetty. The bite slowed from the day before but things are constantly changing. Several Pompano came over the rails of the north jetty. There were boats lined up outside of the channel fishing for Flounder but we don't know if they had any success. The shore anglers weren't having much luck. A couple of guys were slaying the Sheepshead off the south catwalk, we will have their photos up next week.

Our first photo today features Pearce Bellamy of Ocala with a nice Sheepshead landed off the north jetty on Christmas Day. Photo courtesy of Trina Perone of Inverness, thanks Trina!

Photo two features Kristin Rawles of Suffolk, VA with a nice Sheepshead she landed off the north jetty on Tuesday. Nice catch Kristin!

Rob Moore of Orlando made it back to the inlet on Wednesday and is featured in our third photo. Rob did pretty well with the Flounder, he landed four nice ones, the largest being six lbs. Very nice!

Skip Stowers, his son Sean and friend Brian Van Cour of Kissimmee took their boat out on the 21st to test out their new pre-Christmas gifts of Avet casting reels. Sean landed over 65 lbs in four fish! Photo four is of Sean with a 22 lb C/R Redfish. Sean also landed a 19 lb C/R Snook, 12 lb C/R Snook and another 10 lb C/R Red. What a night, way to go Sean!

Brian Van Cour is featured in our last photo today with a 12 lb Snook he landed while fishing with the Stowers. This was Brian's second Snook ever, landed and released at sunset. Nice going Brian!
Our office will be closed on Monday, January 2nd for New Year's. Have a safe and happy holiday!

12-29-11 THURSDAY: BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, POMPANO, FLOUNDER, REDS, C/R SNOOK AND TARPON
It's another cool but beautiful morning at the inlet. The fish seem to have been invigorated; they've been biting well. This morning winds are blowing out of the Northwest at 4 mph and the water has finally calmed down.
Yesterday was a real good day for Black Drum according to Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike showed up at the inlet just after sunrise and landed his limit of five in about an hour while fishing the end of the outgoing and the beginning of the incoming tides using dead shrimp. Mike reported about a dozen Drum landed in the two hours he was there along with a Pompano, Sheepshead and Whiting. Mike is featured in our first photo today with his Black Drum. Very nice Mike!
Walton Ray at the Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported the rest of the day the Black Drum hit like crazy, along with some Pompano, Sheepshead and a few Flounder. Thanks Walton!
Reds, big Snook and Tarpon are hitting in the evening hours.

We received a rare (but much appreciated) offshore report from Justin Foster of Melbourne Beach. Justin and his dad Dennis managed to get offshore with Captain Amos for some bottom fishing Friday (between small craft advisories) and they did quite well. They landed several C/R Red Snapper and Sea Bass, Amberjacks to 55 lbs, a few decent Gag Grouper and some Sharks in the 30 - 50 lb range. The men were fishing 28 miles out on a ledge in 180' of water. Thanks for the update and photos Justin!

Photo two is of Justin and Captain Amos with a real nice Amberjack.

Photo three is of Justin with a good sized Gag Grouper.

Photo four is Justin with a real pretty C/R Red Snapper.

Our last photo is what's left of a Bluerunner after a Shark had its way with it!
12-28-11 WEDNESDAY: BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, FLOUNDER, BLUES AND POMPANO
Temperatures took a dip last night and we have a chilly morning at the Sebastian Inlet. Winds are blowing out of the North-Northwest at 12 mph and the water is choppy. Anglers are bundled up this morning, it's cold but beautiful. We have blue skies and very little chance of rain today. These cold snaps have a tendency to get the fish biting! There is a small craft advisory in effect, always check the coastal forecast prior to going offshore.
Walton Ray at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop said the Black Drum bite was good all day yesterday, along with Flounder and some really big C/R Snook. Thanks Walton!
Sheepshead are active around structures, rocks, pilings, docks, etc.

Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach and Tony Swiderski of Sebastian got out very early yesterday and both landed some nice Black Drum before daylight on the outgoing tide. The early bird gets the fish! Thanks for the photos and update Chuck! Chuck is featured in our first photo today with four nice Black Drum.

Our second photo today is of Tony Swiderski of Satellite Beach who landed his Drum off the north jetty also. Way to go Tony!

Rob Moore of Orlando reported Christmas Day was a great one for Flounder, he landed 7 good sized fish on the south side and the next day he landed 5. Photo three is one of Rob Moore's Flounder he landed on Christmas Day. Nice going Rob!

Our next two photos are courtesy of Trina Perone of Inverness. Thanks Trina!
Father and son Anthony and Pearce Bellamy of Ocala are featured in our fourth photo. The family was fishing the north jetty on Christmas Day and limited out on Black Drum. Great job Bellamy's!

Jody Musto of Inverness is featured in our last photo. Christmas Day was Jody's first trip to the inlet and he landed some good sized Black Drum. Way to go Jody!
