[Fishing Report]

11-09-10 TUESDAY: SPANISH MACKEREL, BLUEFISH, BLACK DRUM

Good morning!

Gosh, a day like today at the Inlet is what makes living here so great. There is no wind this morning, the water is calm and the jetties are already starting to fill up.

Anglers have been landing Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, using mostly spoons or gotcha lures. Lots of Black Drum are coming in as well; they like the frozen clams.

Today's photo features Kim Tanner. She was out in the Inlet waters and caught this nice Jack, approx 20lb. Great catch, Kim!

11-08-10 MONDAY: BLUES AND MACKS WERE THE HEAVY HITTERS THIS WEEKEND

Good morning,
Over the weekend, some good and bad weather arrived leaving the Inlet rough and cold yesterday. Today the water is much calmer.

This morning's report from Tommy at the Inlet Bait & Tackle Shop included a variety of fish caught over the weekend. The most common catch? Well, a lot of Anglers landed a bunch of Blues as well as Macks, using mostly spoons and jigs.

Other fish caught over the weekend were Flounder!!, Snook, Sheepshead, and Drum. Best bait for these? You're looking at mullet, shrimp, and clams.

Today's photos were sent in by Sean and Skip Stowers. This unusual looking fish is a ribbon fish (with big teeth). Apparently, these can be used for bait to catch kingfish. They are somewhat common up by Canaveral but this is the first we've seen caught at the Inlet. Thanks for the photos and story, guys!

As a reminder to those that are familiar with the Inlet as well as new visitors, there are many other fishing spots at the Inlet and state park where you will not run into the heavy crowds located mostly on the north jetty. There are areas west of the bridge, the catwalks, on the south side of the inlet and bridge, and some good spots are along the rocks out west by the additional parking area on the north side...
