[Fishing Report]

Clifford Kemp and Larry Harris, from North Wilkesboro NC, returned to the Florida Keys for Thanksgiving vacation and for another trip with SeaSquared Charters.

It was a tad windy on the reef, so we went to the calmer waters in Florida Bay and I’m sure glad we made that decision!

The guys caught keeper mangrove snapper and a gorgeous Florida pompano. But, the real action came from the Spanish mackerel. We literally could have sunk the boat in ‘em.

Clifford and Larry brought their limit back to the dock, and I smoked the fish for them. Forty-three pounds of delicious smoked Spanish mackerel on the way to North Carolina!

Keys first-timers land an impressive catch with SeaSquared Charters!

Adam Breashears along with Bozhao Jiang and children, Ivy Zhou and Eric Zhou, enjoyed a Thanksgiving getaway to Tranquility Bay Resort in Marathon Florida Keys and included a half day of fishing.

I had a great trip to the Bay this morning, so it was a no-brainer to head out there again with this group.

The first fish in the boat was a gorgeous 30-inch gag grouper caught by seven-year-old Eric on 12-lb test with a shrimp on a jig head. A great start to the trip!

The group continued by catching porgy, mangrove and yellowtail snapper, jack crevalle and small red grouper.

Eric supervised my cleaning of his prize grouper, and the crew enjoyed it cooked at Salty’s Waterfront Grill at the 7 Mile Marina.
