Catching sailfish while nothing was biting aboard Hooked Up
December 30th, 2011
Today we started out fishing with Todd, Katelyn, Tim, Taylor and Tanner all from South Florida.
Once again I must admit fishing was slow not just for us but also for all the boats.
But all the same we set out our kites and suspended live baits from them crossed our fingers and hopped for the best.
As it turned out we were the lucky lotto winners today because a sailfish jumped on our left long kite bait and just like that we were Hooked Up.
Taylor jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After a good 15 min he had his sail close to the boat and Captain Greg held the rod so they could get a photo of this 7-foot plus sail in the water when all of a sudden he took off like a rocket and the fight was on once again. This time Katelyn jumped in the chair trying to get this sail back to the boat. Than Tim jumped in and the whole family was helping. This fish was going nuts and as we finally got him next to the boat we seen why.
It turned out that this fish was not hooked at all it had the line wrapped around it’s bill and was not happy about it. (LOL)
As we got him next to the boat again the line slid off and away he went but not until we got our photos.
Thanks again guys and it was pleasure fishing with you guys just like it’s a pleasure shopping at Publix. (LOL) Talk to you soon Tim.

Shark and Barracuda aboard Hooked Up off Fort Lauderdale
December 29th, 2011
Today we started out fishing with Alan, Griffin, Eric, George, Max and Aries all from Marry Anna Georgia.
I’ve got to take a second and say these guys have fished with us before and every time they fish with us we seem to have a banner day of deep sea fishing so we were hopping luck would be with us again today but as it turned out fish was just plan old slow today.
While this is our back yard and we play in it everyday and we do know where to go and what to do it is still fishing and today we were trying everything we knew but we were having a hell of a time catching.
So we ended up catching some small bonitos and putting them out as live bait on a deep ledge and finally Griffin saved the day by landing a nice barracuda. Thanks and way to go Griffin.
Guys thanks again for fishing with us again and we are looking forward to fishing again next month with you guys.
As we got back to the dock we had our afternoon trip Marc, Mark, Pierre, Gabbie, Peter and Peggy all from Montreal Canada waiting and eager to give their luck a shot at some deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
Once again we knew that fishing was slow so we thought to better our odds we would try shark fishing, sail fishing, Mahi Mahi fishing all at the same time.
So we set out our kites with 3 live baits on the surface and one shark bait also suspended from the kites along with a shark bait down about 150 feet and another shark bait all the way down 350 feet.
Ok the trap was set than all at once BAM the deep rod bent over and all hell broke lose. At first Marc jumped in the chair and the back and forth struggle began. After a good 10 min Marc jumped out of the chair and Mark jumped in. Ok so we had a tag team trying to muscle this sea monster to the boat.
Finally we got this hammerhead shark to the side of the boat.
We slid him threw the tuna door for a quick measurement and a photo and slid him right back out to sea to fight again another day.
Guy’s thanks again for taking the time to fish with us aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
