Peacock Bass October 22nd
Yes the catches have been down for me, but I am still catching peacock. I have two strategies. 1. Do the ole fashion throw the lure along the shoreline and cover ground technique. When cold fronts come through, baitfish tend to come up nearshore where there is more sunlight and more heat, thats wen peacock feed mostly... especially in the morning. 2. If you notice more fish chasing baitfish in the middle of lakes, switch to mirror lures or rapala magnums, get some distance! I can throw my lures apprx 200ft and It has definetly paid of a few times already with some very decent nice sized fish. Factors to pay attention to during the winter. Temperature- the colder, the more active they most likely will be in the morning. Fish nearshore when this happens. Barometer- If a low pressure system is on us, you can find yourself all by yourself because they hate low pressure systems. WHen fronts push through and there is an established high pressure the fish are 3 times more aggressive. Moon phases- read the calendars, find the fishing peaks, they are actually very accurate believe it or not! |
