Pea soup fog and a light drizzle greeted Captain Steven on today’s scouting trip. I originally planned on running across Tampa Bay to Bishops Harbor but the fog ended that so I stayed close to O’Neill’s Marina looking for new hot spots.

Casting a DOA Deadly Combo in 3’ of 65 degree water was quickly inhaled by a spunky 15” Sea Trout. Good start…the next 50 casts resulted in zero. Unusual as Trout school up in good numbers. A small move of 100 yards had the same result. By now the fog eased slightly so I motored to Ft. Desoto and had the exact same thing occur again!

I moved into a canal to get out of the stiff wind to look for sheepshead. Armed with a piece of shrimp on a size 1 hook and a small split shot it took only seconds to catch a chunky sheepshead. You guessed it ….as it was once again once and done.

With the fog getting thick again I called it a day! Perfect timing as it started to rain moments after I put the Pathfinder away.
