We’ve finalized our Resort Partnership Program and have added two great properties for 2010. In addition to the Islander Resort in Islamorada, and Treasure Cay Resort in the Bahamas, we have teamed up with the Gallery One in Fort Lauderdale, and the Grand Key Resort, Key West. Our relationship with these great properties allows us to offer significant savings to our customers, year round. We can offer you fishing only, accommodations only, or a combination of accommodations and fishing. This is a very flexible arrangement, so be sure to give us a ring if you are traveling to any of these locations and need a nice place to stay. Below is a quick overview of each property:

Grand Key Resort – Key West

This pet-friendly, certified Green Lodging facility features 216 guest rooms with Caribbean cottage-style décor, complimentary wireless and high-speed Internet access, a complimentary shuttle service to Old Town, the airport and most marinas, a zero-entry pool with a waterfall and hot tub, massages services, a Tiki bar and an on-site restaurant – where they’ll cook your catch, plus in-room dining, a gym, a business center, the Hilton Honors program and a warm chocolate-chip cookie welcome.

Fishing Overview: Offshore, Reef, Backcountry, Dry Tortugas. Light tackle, live bait. Conventional, spin or fly-fishing for species like Tarpon, Permit Bonefish, Sailfish, Snapper, Dolphin, Swordfish, Sharks Cobia, and plenty more. Key West is truly one of the most diverse fisheries in the world. So many options, so plan on staying a little longer!

The hotel features complimentary internet in our business center and public areas, an on site restaurant where Chef will cook your catch, in room dining, gym, the Hilton honors program and not to be left out, the famous Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookie welcome.

Fishing Overview: Sailfish and Swordfish is our specialty all Winter long. Live bait kite fishing for the sails and either day or nighttime swordfishing. In the spring, we switch over to dolphin fishing in the Gulfstream, and making runs to the close Bahamas such as Bimini, Freeport, and West End.

    Treasure Cay – Bahamas

Property Overview: Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina is part of a quaint Bahamian village known as Treasure Cay, located less than 200 miles from the east coast of Florida on the island of Abaco in the Bahamas. Guests may relax and enjoy the pristine powdery white 3 ½ mile beach, one of the finest in the Caribbean! Golfers delight in the challenging 18 hole, 6985 yard championship golf course designed by Dick Wilson, while boaters cruise over to experience all the services offered at the 150 slip marina. For added recreation, fishing, boat rentals, scuba diving, snorkeling and a wide variety of water-sports are available.

Fishing Overview: Offshore, Reef, and Bonefishing all exceptional. Winter is big Wahoo time, then in the Spring a mixed bag of Dolphin, Wahoo, Tuna, and some Billfish. As we move closer to Summer, Billfish becomes the target species. Snapper, Grouper, and Bonefish are available year round.

    Smoker Kings and Nice Muttons

    Islamorada Fishing Report

WOW what a great week of fishing!! Islamorada has turned on. The Sailfish action was spotty most of the week; however it did seem to pick up over the weekend, bait of choice Ballyhoo. The reef edge and some of the deeper fades and wrecks have also picked up with some real nice color fish [groupers and muttons]! Capt. Andrew and Capt. Jeff held down the fort while I’ve been gone and they have had a super time. They produced and wonderful catch of Yellowtails and mackerels all week. The Ceros have moved out from the backcountry and are snapping. The light 12lb tackle suits them the best. Casting GotCha lures and small live bait has been the ticket. They told me that during the week every cast produced a bite!! The sardines and cigar minnows have been kinda on the small side so we have dropped down our tackle in order to be productive and its work wonders. The Ceros and Spanish have ranged anywhere from 3 to 7 pounds, and the monster King Mack’s have shown up in pretty good numbers. We had some up in the 40 pound range and quite a few between 12 and 25 pounds. The bigger baits have been the ticket here, the small ones seem to stay closer to the surface with the strong currents this week it makes it tough for those baits to swim down like we need them too. However as we pick through the baits we find some bigger ones which have produced instant bite from the Smoker Kings. Light tackle again is so much fun 20lb to #3 wire is all we can handle!! Even been a few Wahoo’s around as the water has cleaned up nicely, as well as the temps have dropped a little bit down to 75 which is a nice gradually change as not to shock the system!! The Mutton snappers have begun to move which is a really good sign they should get better and better as time moves on, had several in the 8 to 10 pound range. Looking forward to another good week lots going on and best of all the weather looks as if it is going to be on our side with temps holding in the mid to upper 70’s.

    Tight Lines,

    Capt. John

Split Charter - and Weekly Islamorada Recap

We have couple looking to split a charter on our 50' Sportfish out of Bud n Mary's this Saturday...if anyone can go, drop me a line: rhyne.trey@gmail.com

    Weekly Report from Capt. John:

    Islamorada New Year Report

What a great end of the year!! Fishing was outstanding! At times difficult but good times. Going to keep it short for the simple fact of the consistency of the week. Smoker Kings up to 40lbs and plenty in the 10 to 15lb range all caught on cigar minnows which at times were hard to come by. Several Sailfish caught and released, Capt Andrew produced his bites on live Ballyhoo.

The weather has turned very COLD for us down here. I believe the next couple days it will be 42 and 37 degrees when we get up, OH BOY!!! Not sure what to expect! Bait will probably be tough and the reef fishing slow, however, the Mutton fishing should be good. Looking forward to that for sure as well as the Sailfishing should come alive so stay tuned! Thanks and Happy New Year.

    Islamorada Cold Report

COLD, COLD and more COLD is what we have all shared this last week!! Things were rather difficult all week. The mornings were mostly in the low 40’s and took us the better part of two hours to catch. There was very little current most of the week and when we did have a little it was going up into the wind which made things that much harder.

Honestly the only thing biting has been King Mackerels and they have been plentiful. The Sailfish have been tough for us with the lack of current that we have had. The backcountry waters have had signs of tragedy, lots of fish floating and plenty of penned up bait has been very difficult to keep alive with the water temps dropping into the 50’s…CRAZZZY!!!.

The highlight of the week was our trip with George Poveromo and Sue from the Miami Herald. After a very difficult morning trying to catch bait, we found great success with the Kings and even caught a real nice Black fin Tuna!!! Not sure what the week will bring but I do know that warm weather will soon be back!!
