Monster Black Drum - North Bay - From Land!!

I have been scouting out this new spot for the past day and a half, and I've been seeing what I thought were Black Drum. BIG ONES. Today's mission was to get out there and try to get one. I've never managed to land a really nice one, especially not here in Miami.

Biscayne Bait and Tackle was out of crabs this morning, so I got some shrimp, and a few pinfish. I called my brother up to see if he was game to go, and I am so lucky he did!

We spent about 35 min. trying to catch one big blue crab that we saw resting in the water :bang: and finally got him.

First crab out ... my brother comes tight, and all I hear is a massive "BANNNNG", the fish popped him off.

I'm up to bat ... BaitRunner starts screaming, and I could never come tight.

The crab ran out so I decided to use a piece of his claw ... not 5 min. later ... BAAM, fish on!

This is my biggest Black Drum to date, not to mention the fact that I caught it FROM LAND - IN MIAMI :nilly: I never could have landed the fish without the help of my bro. He crawled into the water and slammed the fish up onto dry land. At one point the reel got chicken-cooped from the fish pulling drag that we thought we were gonna have to try and get him in by hand.

MY BRO

I am beat. Enjoy! :toast:
