Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing remains strong as we continue to catch large Wahoos, Sailfish of all sizes, Kingfish and school size Dolphin. The majority of the fish being caught here are inside of 200 feet of water. The water in our Fort Lauderdale fishing area has been clear and blue with just the slightest touch of green. Our biggest Wahoo have been taken on live bait as have most of the Sailfish. Dolphin (Dorado) of course like the live baits but continue to bite well on trolled dead baits. Small Bonitos have been the best live bait for the Wahoos and we have taken three fish over 40 pounds in the last 5 trips on them. It’s hard to beat a frisky goggle eye fished out of a kite for the Sailfish, but we have had them take the live Bonitos and trolled dead baits as well. The Sailfish have been in all sizes from 4 feet to 7 feet. Pictured is one of several Dolphin caught and held by his new owner Mrs. J. There was enough to go round for everybody, and the Js gave this one and one of his sisters to Andrew and myself for dinner. He is certainly a decent fish and typical of the size of the Dolphin that are available to us now. No monster but not a pipsqueak either. It’s a good time to try your hand at a little Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing as our catches are good with mixed bag of species available.
