Deep Sea Fishing / Ft. Lauderdale

Deep sea fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale has been pretty strong the last few days. A strong northerly running current has got the fish concentrated inside of 150 feet of water and this allows us to shrink the playing field so to speak. We are seeing small schools of Dorado moving to the south. The majorities of these fish are less than ten pounds, very aggressive, and are best fished in 100 to 150 feet of water. Sailfish are biting as well as a strong NE wind has got them active on the surface and moving south as well. 90 to 110 feet of water has been the most consistent depth. Live bait has been best for the Sailfish as is the usual for this time of year. We are catching the Dorado on trolled artificial and natural dead baits as well as the live ones. Kingfish and Bonito are also in the 100 foot area.
Sharks continue to bite and the picture is of Brandon and his Hammerhead that we hoisted aboard for a measurement and photo and then released. Deep sea fishing is been productive in our Ft. Lauderdale fishing area and as mentioned is taking place close to the coastline and essentially right out front of our inlet.
