Marathon’s Fifth Annual Mother’s Day Dolphin Tournament Slated May 6-7

MARATHON, Florida Keys — Forget the flowers and spend the weekend with mom in a fun fishing competition during the fifth annual Mother’s Day Dolphin Tournament, set for May 6-7.

A rules meeting and dinner are to be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Catch 53 Bar & Grille, located at the Holiday Inn Express, mile marker (MM) 53 oceanside in Marathon.

Lines-in is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, and lines-out at 3:30 p.m. A weigh-in runs until 5 p.m. at Big Time Bait and Tackle, 11499 Overseas Highway.

An awards banquet and ceremony are set for 7 p.m. at Castaways Restaurant, 1406 Oceanview Ave. at MM 47.5.

More than $13,000 in cash prizes awaits winners of the one-day tournament. Top cash prize for the heaviest fish is $5,000, with prizes also awarded to second- through fifth-place anglers. Other attractions include raffles and giveaways.

Registration is open through noon May 6. The per-angler fee of $175 includes entry, one meal ticket for both evening dinner events, a tournament shirt and a goody bag.
