I love showing visitors the wonders of fishing the waters surrounding Marathon, especially when we have kids on the boat. The endless variety of fish species makes it like a trip to the aquarium!

I took this group from Utah out to the reef edge where they caught small, throw-back snappers but were successful with cero mackerel and a beautiful 15-pound kingfish. We then moved inshore to the channel humps and the action really got going. They caught a 17-inch mutton snapper, lanes in the 15-inch category and mangroves at about 16 inches. Spanish mackerel filled the box.

They took their filleted fish back to Utah to share with family and friends, and I smoked all of the mackerel and mailed it to them to enjoy for their New Year celebration.

The group included Nathan Kenyon, Troy Stevens and his son Sheaden, Cory Wadsworth and his girls Sadie and Harlee and Augie Bove. All agreed they're ready to come back in June for dolphin and tarpon!
