Marathon Florida Keys Fishing Report - Capt. Chris Johnson, SeaSquared Charters - December 27, 2010
Joe Pecherski and his family are real troopers! I guess that's not surprising since they live not far from the Canadian border in Michigan. They returned for another Christmas fishing trip with me and this year Joe's brother and family chef, James Pecherski, came along.
I had to reschedule their trip due to the unseasonable cold weather we had on the day after Christmas. When we finally did get out, the fishing was great.
The day started with a bonnethead shark on the hook. Once it was released, the gang set to fishing for keepers. The group brought a porgy and 27 snappers back to the dock - mangrove, lane and yellowtail.
Erin hooked a red grouper, broke it off, hooked it again and landed it twenty mintues later with both of my jig heads in its mouth. One of the last groupers for 2010. Erin was so proud she had to give it a kiss!
Marathon Florida Keys Fishing Report – Captain Chris Johnson, SeaSquared Charters – December 28, 2010
Our good client, Jerry Moore, escapes Western Pennyslvania every Christmas to spend some time at his place in Marathon Key Beach Club. This year he brought some friends along for his annual fishing trip with SeaSquared.
Andrew and Diana James, Gitta Horton, Wendi Ballew and Joy Ranson – all from the Pittsburgh area – braved some chilly conditions to bring back a delicious fresh fish dinner. We went to the patch reefs where the group caught lane, mangrove and yellowtail snapper, Spanish mackerel and a bonus Florida pompano.
The chef among the group, Andrew requested some of the snapper remain whole as he has a special way of preparing it. I hope they took some pictures of their feast!
