Wow, what a beautiful night on the water. Last night I had the Morrie Rubin charter out on the water. After a slightly late start due to the afternoon rush hour here in Miami we had a beautiful ride out. No sooner did I finish putting the 5th rod out when the close baloon set at 150 gets slammed rips off 50yds and pulls the hook, strike 1! WHile I am setting the baloon back out the tip rod gets slammed and after I hook Morrie up he has the fish to the boat in a few short minutes (about 47-50"). As I grabbed the leader the fish went airborn and shook the hook...1/2. Before I could get the tip rod back out the long baloon pulls a few feet then nothing. Its now 9 and we reset the drift. Again right after setting up we had a hit on the tip rod but the fish never came back to finish the squid off! and at 10 we had our last bite on the long bait and came tight on a frisky fish. Morrie got on the rod again and settled in for a nice 20 minute fight with a stubby 59" fish. After we put this one in the boat he asked we head for home as he had enough for the night! All in all, 2/4 with a few other misses! No bait to speak of and our bites came all over the place from 50' down to 300!

First off, sorry about the late report! Late thrusday afternoon I came down with some sort of stomach bug, most likely form a bad piece of chicken I ate for lunch and it has taken me a while to get back up to speed...but none the less I made it out with the Ben Greene charter from Miami, FL. It was nice to get an early start and we loaded up with some runners at the momument bouy and headed off. I think we started setting up at the perfect time, about 30 minutes before complete darkness. As the bite was earlier this week it didn't take long as soon as the spread was out the tip rod set around 100' got slammed and immediately started peeling line! Ben got harnessed up and for the next 10 minutes watched line roll of his reel, finally the fish turned and sprinted to the surface but on the way up the hook came loose. Set the tip back out and 10 minutes later the long balloon take off and in a few short minutes Ben has a pup snagged in the pec fin I grabbed the leader, the fish made a wiggle and he popped off. I reset the drift and moved a few more miles to the south and as I was putting the 3rd rod in the water the
2nd balloon came off and we were tight again. Ben made a great angler and by this time he had the harness thing down pat! About 15 minutes later I sunk the gaff into a nice 58" fish. We hung in with the drift while I took care of the fish and iced him up and had another 2 slashed up baits when it was time to bring them in. With me under the weather and Ben pulling on a few good fish we headed home. Ben will be forwarding me pics soon, so look for a follow up!
Since then the wind has been blowing! Should be getting out tonight and tomarrow night and hopefully the sailsfish will be snapping a little later this week after the front passes! here are a few pics!

Wow great! Its good to have company on here with swordin reports. These readers are so blood thirsty that they have me go out solo to get their fix!
Good to have you aboard and keep the posts comming... Maybe with two of us talking it up some of these guys might come unglued from the north and give our piece of the world a try...
Welcome to the site- great write up and pics. I've never been on a sword but want to some day. Those things sound like they get off the hook a heck of a lot more than they stay on. Keep up the great reports.
