Kite Fishing

Any kite fishers around? I've seen a few pictures of kites, rigs and fish caught and it looks like tons of fun. If you are a kite fisher I would love to see pictures (videos? ), info or stories posted.

When I write my sailfish 101 story I'll include kites just for you. They restrict my mobility when up but the bites they draw with at bait dangling and no leader in the water is spectacular. yu can see that bait get all nervous then here comes that purple shadow. The bait tries to run but the straight up and down of the kite line has him held up. That bill comes out. that mouth opens and that happy bait just disappears. The clip lets go and all that drop back gets sucked right up... One two three... You come tight and that pretty pointed fish lights up the sky. Front flips, back flips, dancin on its tail before blistering 200 yards off your 20lb spin outfit. Then starts with the jumpin stuff again. Its rough and tumble for about twenty minutes then here comes the leaderr. a quick snip and score one for you...

Now of course thing sometimes happen that we don't expect. Here comes mister hammeread shark that just gulps the bait. for some reason the clip doesnt let go and now you have 200 pounds of pissed off t-head and the kite to fight...

i have seen them used a couple times by surf fishermen when there was a on shore wind. Perfect thing to get the baits out past the bar.

That's why I find it so cool. I don't have a boat and I live on the coast, so I think some kite fishing from the beach would be awesome.

Kite surfing is big here in the state of Ceará, Brazil.

Just watch out for the kite surfers so they dont get tangled up with you. I have had sailboats come between the boat and the kite and beleive me it can leave quite a mess.

I wouldn't use the kite if I saw any kite surfer around
