Greetings once again from the "Sports Fishing Capital of the World" Islamorada and the Florida Keys. This weeks fishing report is all about monster tarpon! Yes some fishing Guides are catching bonefish and redfish, some Snook and spotted seatrout and Sharks and that's great fun and I do that kind of fishing year round, But the BIG Tarpon are here to spawn and I have always told my anglers "If you are in Islamorada from April-June, Tarpon is what you sould go for" Tarpon are a fish of a life time and if you catch one of these beast, you will never forget it. The best time to fish is the Sunset trip 4-8pm. Last night my Anglers had 9 bites and we released 5 over 100 lbs. Wow, what a great time! my arms still hurt from setting the hook. On a average trip we get 5 to 8 bites with 2 releases. The fight time can last anywhere from 15 to 50 mins. as you can tell, this is what I like to do the most and I love doing it! Want to give it a try? Give me or any of Islamorada's Tarpon Guides a call, till then this Captain Ted Benbow asking you to "Keep it in the Shallow Grass"
