The Islamorada Invitational Fall Fly Bonefish Tournament

The Islamorada Invitational Fall Fly Bonefish Tournament chronicles an impressive list of past angling and guiding legends, going all the way back to 1975. Crack casters like Billy Pate, Sandy Moret and Glenn Flutie have taken the Fall Fly title while being poled by Keys household names like Huff, Spear and Klein. Facing the toughest conditions and fishing ever in the history of this event, it seemed ironic that the brand new team of Paul Nute and Capt. Bou Bosso would eek out a victory and become the 2010 Grand Champions.



Twenty-one boats caught only 19 releases and 4 weight fish. The top two boats were seperated by only 4 points, or the equivalent of literally ONE ounce! After blanking on day one, the team of Nute/Bosso banged out 2 releases and a nine pound thirteen ounce weight the very next day. They added one day three release to barely edge out Rick Orcutt and Capt. Eric Herstedt, who also caught 3 releases and a nine pound twelve ounce weight. Frank Juliano with Capt. Mark Gilman took Largest Fish honors with a fat 12 pound 13 ouncer, good enough on its own for third place. Most releases with 4 went to Pepe Lopez, guided by Doug Kilpatrick.



Nute also won High Point day two and Best New Angler. At 24 years old, Bou Bosso becomes the youngest Captain ever to win in the 34 year history of the Fall Fly. An impressive accomplishment considering the very tough fishing this year, and the seasoned veterans he outguided.
