    Islamorada All Tackle Bonefish Tournament

    October 11 – 13, 2010

Three days of intense competition for world class anglers in Islamorada last week for the elusive gray ghost ended in a fourth victory for Carl Hiaasen and Captain Tim Klein despite difficult conditions. The anglers braved heavy rain and lightning to find the bonefish. Carl Hiaasen also caught & released alive the largest bonefish, 11.12 pounds, while avoiding lightning. The All-Tackle is considered a legendary classic in the world of flatsfishing. Beginning in 1970, the All-Tackle (shortened in the modern era from 5 to 3 days) is well into a 40 year history that has showcased the finest guides to ever push a boat. The field caught and released 44 bonefish over the three days of fishing. Interestingly the worst weather of the three days had the most bonefish numbers posted on the scoreboard. Anglers and guides received shirts from Redington; all events were hosted by The Islamorada Fishing Club. The Grand Champion award was a beautiful original by Jorge Martinez. The dates for next year will be October 10 – 12, 2011. Contact Charlotte Ambrogio csasun@aol.com for more information on this and the Bokor Spring All Tackle Bonefish Tournament.

Author Hiaasen Pens Fourth Victory at Fall All-Tackle

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys -- South Florida's nationally acclaimed columnist and author Carl Hiaasen scored the title of "repeat tournament winner" when he won his fourth Bonefishing World Championship/Islamorada All-Tackle Bonefish Tournament.

Hiaasen, guided by Islamorada's Captain Tim Klein, earned top honors as grand champion as well as catching the largest bonefish at 11.12 pounds.

One release was enough to earn tournament newcomer Chris Berkeley of Fort Pierce, Fla., the title of runner-up grand champion. He fished with Islamorada guide Paul Tejera.

Eleven teams of anglers and guides scored 44 releases over the three-day challenge.

Dates for the 45th annual All-Tackle Bonefish Tournament are Oct. 10-12, 2011. The Bokor Spring All-Tackle Tournament is scheduled April 5-8, 2011.
