IFC Captain’s Cup Sailfish Tournament to Award Up to $30,000

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Tournament anglers looking for 10 times the return on their investment can play the odds at the Islamorada Fishing Club Captain’s Cup Sailfish Tournament, slated for Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 7-8.

A winner-take-all prize of up to $30,000 and the prestigious Captain’s Cup are to go to the top boat team. Each team is allowed up to four anglers per boat and according to tournament organizers team slots are still available.

The guaranteed cash prize is based on the number of boats registered for the one-day event. For a field of 15 registered boats the top payout is to be $20,000, for a field of 20 boats payout increases to $25,000 and a full field of 30 registered boats ensures a grand prize of $30,000.

The all-release tournament is limited to 30 boats. Interested teams are encouraged to register early, but registration remains open until the evening of the event kickoff.

A kick-off party and captains meeting are set for Wednesday, Dec. 7. Fishing is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8, followed by cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres, dinner and awards.

Entry fee is $2,500 for the first two anglers, $300 for a third registered angler and $200 for a fourth. Four social tickets are included per boat.

The IFC Captain’s Cup Sailfish Tournament is a qualifying event for the IGFA Offshore World Championship held in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In 2011, teammates representing the IFC Captain’s Cup Sailfish Tournament for the U.S. included past grand champs Kevin Clark, Hunter Barron, Sam Worden, Glen Miller and Frank Juliano.
