Yeah its right on the gulf, You can catch sharks and whiting at Nokomis Beach (nice small public beach) with fresh shrimp. Intercoastal is right there too, I liked playing with the Lady fish using small spoons. Live shrimp work great for flounder and speck trout under a float. You should head south on the same road to Englewood bridge. Great bait shop there that has guides and boats availible. I like the small pier under the bridge on the southeast side, got whiting, snook, pompano, and spanish mackeral there. Really like that area! Also have seen dolphin and manatees right under dock (only 5 ft off water) big plus for my girl!

Go to Stump Pass Marina and there are plenty of good guides and info to get there. Water is cold on the beach but ladyfish don't seem to mind. Plenty of places you can get out and wade fish around there. Remember... No steel leaders. 25lb fluro, 3/8oz jig head and 3" Gulp Shrimp... it's all you need. If you don't mind driving down to the Pine Island area for a guide call John Ochs 941-270-0313. Don't know how booked he is but that guy can find some fish.
If your looking to do some fishing, check out our website. We run two boats out of Nokomis that can accomodate both inshore (trout, reds, snook, or whatever) and offshore trips for Grouper, Snapper, Kingfish, Amberjack, and many pelagics.
We run two Mako center consoles out of the Venice Inlet. The Bail'em, a 19 ft bay boat can get on the flats and work docks for inshore species or run the beaches and sight fish for Cobia and Tarpon.
The Feeding Frenzy is a 28 ft CC with twin 4-strokes. She has a lot of room, a head, freshwater shower and gets far offshore in a hurry. She is set up for either bottom digging for Grouper, or trolling for Sailfish, Dolphin and Wahoo.
Whatever your trip entails, we can point you in the right direction. Even if you dont book a trip with us, we wish you the best and hope your able to stretch a line !
