A Great Day Sportfishing Fishing Report, Boynton Beach, FL, 7-21-10

    July 11, 2010
Today we fished with a couple very skilled junior anglers determined to have a great day out in the water with their father. We started off the day with a bang and nailed a monster bonito out front of Boynton Inlet around 8:30 am. The big bony weighed nearly 20 lbs! After that we caught a football sized blackfin tuna on a small lure fished way back behind the boat in about 200 ft of water. The conditions were once again spectacular with light winds gracing us during the whole trip. The fishing slowed around 10 am but then picked back up around 11 when the current started moving at a good clip to the North. The bite was red hot all the way up to the end of the trip and for 45 minutes rods were bent and arm muscles were working! These guys were able to land 2 nice kingfish over 10 lbs and 2 more big bonito, ultimately leading to yet another great day of fishing! Come back guys and keep up the good work, you are on your way to becoming expert anglers!

Today we fished with Jimmy Morales and friends for the second time in 2 weeks. We were greeted with glass-like conditions once again, and the fish started biting right away as we trolled in front of of Boynton Inlet. Although we couldn’t find the blackfin tunas that were out there the day before, the big bomber bonitos were thick and we hooked 5 during the first 2 hours of fishing. We were able to land 3 of these brutes, averaging about 15 lbs a piece. Then the bite slowed around 10 am and we asked Jimmy if he wanted to switch things up a bit and try and catch a shark. He thought it was a good idea, so we put out one of our bonitos for bait and within minutes we were hooked up to a monster bull shark! We fought the fish for an hour and a half before we finally had her tired by the boatside. We shot some awesome video and got some great pics before we let her go to roam the depths free once again. It was a team effort and everyone was thrilled by the whole experience. Congratulations guys!

This morning our clients were determined to put together enough fish for an all out feast, so the pressure was on us to put them on some good fishing. The conditions were beautiful as we began trolling off Boynton Inlet, with calm winds making for glass like conditions on the ocean. We found decent weedlines and patches all the way out to 300 ft, but our baits were ignored for the first 45 minutes as we trolled around looking for some action. We decided to switch up tactics and drop to the bottom for snapper in the Lake Worth area, but after 20 minutes without a bite it was apparent that they weren’t biting. As we pulled in the snapper baits, we began to see football sized blackfin tuna busting baits near a weedline just offshore of us, so we began trolling once again. Sure enough the tunas started biting with wreckless abandon and before we knew it we were hooked up to a doubleheader. After we landed those two fish, the bite was on and we caught five more tasty tunas in the next hour. Then they stopped biting just as quickly as they started, probably due to the fact that boats were invading from all directions as they caught wind of the hot bite. During the final hour of the trip, a nice kingfish surprised us and ate a bonito strip fished near the bottom, rounding out the day and adding a little flavor to the day’s catch. Great Day guys!
