Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report 07/13/09

Today we had a family of six charter us. There was mom and dad and four kids ranging in age from 7-17. We started the trip catching bait so that the kids got to catch a fish. Then we went trolling and caught three bonito and a small blackfin tuna. The fish weren't biting as good as they have been so we brought in the trolling gear and went to one of the wrecks. The first wreck we fished had a diver getting ready to go so we fished around it until he went in the water. As we were winding in the live baits I saw something chase one of them to the back of the boat. I dropped the bait back and got a nice barracuda. After that we went to a deeper wreck and dropped a bait there. It took a few minutes but we got a big amberjack on and to the boat. We were a little ways away from the port so on the run back we put out some heavier lures trying for a wahoo or something but didn't get anything. Either way, everybody got a chance to catch a fish and they were all happy.
