Our Fort Lauderdale charter boat report is all about Sailfish and Dolphin. The northeast winds arrived right on schedule and that hoped for breeze and the existing north current at the reef line resulted in Sailfish opportunities for both my boats. Today was a good day for Fort Lauderdale fishing and hungry Sailfish and Dolphin (Dorado) were inside of 200 feet and hungry. Live bait was the ticket and these fish were aggressive and strong. Pictured is Bernie and one of my long line of (favorite) first mates Matt who fished with me today and a nice healthy Sailfish that was released in good shape. Always a pleasure to fish with Matt as he, his dad, and myself go back a long way. Sometimes on a falling Barometer we see lethargic fish, but today both the Sailfish and Dolphin were full of vinegar. We even broke a leader on a frisky Sailfish after he took off on a 200 yard run. We are expecting continued Sailfish action until the front clears completely out and we once again get into that low 80 degree weather. Postcard perfect days for our northern visitors, but more than likely the Sailfish bite will back off a bit. When and if this happens we will begin to look more toward Wahoos on the tide changes and Kingfish inside the edge. The Dorado (Dolphin) will continue to be incidental catches. The lessening of sea conditions means that Swordfish will be back on the menu. Keep on board for our next Fort Lauderdale charter boat report. Capt. Rick
