Florida- Orlando Area Help

I'm heading down with the woman to stay in Orlando from April 4th to 11th. The location isn't my first choice but a family member got suckered into a time-share and it's use it or lose it time so I inherited it. Needless to say, Disney isn't high on my list...

So a little local help would be appreciated, I'd love to try sneaking in a day's fishing in Mosquito Lagoon or something running from that area... if I can swing it with the non-fishing woman. If I'm going I'd like to get a travel article for the new section. We're also looking for ideas of cool stuff to do in the area, we're planning on doing the Universal Studio thing and definitely will be heading to Cape Kennedy as I love the history, maybe even going to Sea World...ya I'm a tourist from Jersey and proud of it...lol

We will have a rental car so we can get around and are looking for things to do that are more oriented to the over 25 crowd rather than the tourist stuff for the pre-teens. Money is tight so sky's not the limit but we want to do more than the usual Disney-Universal-Sea World amusement park tour...we did that when we were 10.

Thanks for the ideas guys, Bryan

You have many choices from an angling perspective. There is some outstanding Bass fishing on the local lakes inside of and right around the Disnesy complex. Disney also has some operation on the East coast at Vero Beach and a good value about Disney is they can hook you up to most activities. If you want to go it alone and hit the saltwater, head east about 90 minutes and you can fish the cape (inshore or offshore -- King Mackeral will be on the beach in April) or head 90 miles west and you can fish Tampa bay (redfish, Tarpon and snook) or a bit further south and you can fish Boca Grande pass for world class tarpon. All of these ideas are doable as a day trip from Disney. As far as being a NJ tourist I understand, I was once too -- until I moved to Florida, now they call me a resident

Bryan,

Offshore contact George from Double "G" (386) 527-3386, he is in New Smyrna Beach.

Flats fishing contact Jerry Feralli (386) 916-0107.

Stay away from Daytona Beach area April 4- 7 BCR week. It's a mess.

LOL

Thanks for the info guys, I'm not much of a bass guy, freshwater's never been my thing. We'll definitely be heading east for at least a day and I'm planning to bring my 8'6" three-piece with me. What should I bring for tackle, specifically lures to hit the Kings or to work the lagoon? Also are there any particular places around the Cape area that are decent spots to start looking or since I've been couped up inside for winter, at least make a few productive casts?

I figured I need to find a local shop when I get down there to get a license.

Thanks for the help
Bryan
