Below-normal temperatures are expected for this weekend, with high temperatures predicted to be in the 50s and 60s. These conditions should still give anglers an opportunity to catch speckled trout, sheepshead and puppy drum.

If the predicted westerly winds come, there should be the opportunity for anglers to fish the inshore reefs and wrecks within 15 miles of the beach.

Excellent sea bass action has been reported at rock piles, reefs and wrecks. Squid is the go-to bait when fishing for tasty sea bass.

Inshore north of the St. Johns River: The best bite up around Fernandina has to be sheepshead — and some very big ones. The reds and trout are on the small side and scattered.

Inshore south of the St. Johns River: It's been a little slow from the JTB down to St. Augustine. If you can get up into some of the flats west of Pine Island and around Devil's Elbow, the redfish are schooling up pretty good. Sheepshead under the bridges are providing the most consistent bites. The whiting bite in the inlet at St. Augustine was excellent.
