The lake level was up to 10.53 feet, but the water coming into the lake is dirty. That means anglers will have to search for clean water on the main lake if they want to catch bass. Top lures include Gambler Giggy Heads with plastic worms, topwater plugs and swim baits. Anglers fishing around bedding areas off Observation Shoal were catching good numbers of bluegills along with some shellcrackers using live worms, crickets and Beetle-Spins.

    Lots of fresh water.

Fresh water comming from the rivers in the bonita area have scattered reds and snook to more brackish areas of the bays. High water temps and low oxygen levels are better suited for small tarpon. Early A.M or later in the evening will offer a shot at these fish. Peanut storm 3 inch swim baits and rootbeer color DOAs work best. High water levels in the bays have reds way back in the trees or on deep flats. Oyster bars will hold their share of snook. Pinfish or finger mullet will work well in these areas.
