DUNN'S CREEK - By topographic standards, this is a small piece of water wiggling through Putnam County. It's not too wide in most places, and it's only several miles end to end. But what puts it in a unique place in the overall hydrology of the area is that its 6-mile length acts as both a buffer and a conduit between the St. Johns River and large, lonely Crescent Lake.



There's a lot of wildlife on Crescent Lake, and lots of it in the St. Johns River, too.
