Fat YellowTail Snapper and Grouper SW Florida

Had a good friend and his daughter along today for a little summer vacation fishing before heading back to college. Proudly Whooping some fish today was Alexis Ward, her father Joe, and another friend Todd.
Upon reaching the triple number depth requirement, we started the chum slick and started clearing the fat Cudas outta the way. They can really interfere with the number of snapper fillets that hit the frying pan. I've learned that the if you sore-lip a few, they rest kinda catch on (no pun intended) and vacate the area for a bit.
Next up was free-lining the baits out on long Fluorocarbon leaders and sightfishing the "Tails" as they balled up behind the boat. I love that sight. We really did well with a nice take on Yellowtails from 18-22 inches. Fat ones for not being in the Keys or Islands ! We took enough for a good meal or two, then moved on to Grouper Diggin.
Alexis hooks up first with a fat 18 pounder within 2 minutes of her bait hittin bottom. We kept 5 fat grouper that went from 10-18 lbs. By noon, we were done and swimming in the Gulf to cool off.
Another great day off Southwest Florida.

The ladies we have in our Boating School and Fishing School are by far the best students. The dont have any preconceived ideas or bad habits and are more open-minded and willing to learn.
Usually when it comes to Grouper Fishing and Snapper Fishing, they are a lot more patient too. Even inshore stuff. Just easier to teach. We love having the girls in the Fishing Academy.
