Clarence Clemons to Host Redbone @ Large Tarpon Tournament
ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — It’s time again for anglers to migrate along with the silver kings to the Redbone @ Large La Siesta Sunrise/Sunset Tarpon Tournament, set for April 15-17.
Clarence Clemons, saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen’s famed E Street Band, is to be the event’s celebrity host. Other celebrities to be in attendance include former NASA astronaut Bruce Melnick, whose more than 300 hours in space includes flying as mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1990 and flight engineer on the first flight of the Shuttle Endeavor.
All events are to be held at the La Siesta Marina, mile marker 80.5 bayside. Registration is scheduled 4-6 p.m. Friday, April 15, followed by a gala kick-off reception with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and silent auction.
In past years Clemons has presented a welcome performance with the Marlin Too Revue for anglers, guests and guides.
Saturday, April 16, anglers are to fish beginning at dawn, 6-10:30 a.m., and again at dusk, 4-8 p.m. Fishing Sunday, April 17, is scheduled 6-10:30 a.m. The event is to close with an awards luncheon at noon Sunday.
Entry fee is $3,000 per two-angler team, which includes guide fee and social privileges for each angler, their guests and guide.
The annual angling event benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
