I understand that the castnet law is 7 or 8 feet in Broward county? In Dade and Palm Beach Counties there is no restriction on the size? My curiosity is wondering why? Anybody know?

???????????????? Never heard of it...![]()
I sling between 9 for my target net to 10'6" for my good one to 12' large mesh when doing the mullet thing... I'm Palm Beach and the keys...
I used to bring one to the islands but they're frowning on that now so I guess its sabiki city if I go live baitin there...
Never heard of the restriction in salt water! However don't throw it in fresh water, then your in trouble.

Yup
Broward County only lets you throw a net with a 7' radius (14' diameter)! It surprised me when I found out about a year ago while aksing an FWC officer about the "rumor", and he replied by saying. "Everyone knows abouT that law, so there is no tolerance." "We can take someone to jail over the misdemeanor, or just cut up their oversized net!"(some take it seriously)
I have lived in Broward for my entire life (24 years); and haven't heard of that law until recently, so be careful out there! Imagine, you launch your boat in West Palm somewhere and head south to fish and throw your "palm beach legal" net and get in trouble! That is not likely because I haven't ever been checked for my net, but it would suck to ruin a trip over it! So know your laws, and tell others!
- But, like Jeff (SaltShaker 30) said, just put in/and or fish in Miami so that bait isn't a problem! MIAMI + net = Alot of bait!
