Bud n Mary's fishing report Islamorada 10-30
Well the daytime swordfishing has been on fire the last couple of weeks. Quite a few small fish, but still plenty of keepers for dinner. Last week Jon Patten was here from the England and after waiting all week to get out with the stormy weather, Capt. Scott Stanczyk was able to get him out for some daytime swordfishing. Jon had caught 3 broadbills with at Bud N Mary's before on his previous 4 trips, but this single trip alone he was able to catch 6 broadbill swordfish! Most were released, but one was kept for dinner around 90 lbs. Great work! The Catch 22 also fished this past Thursday and Friday and caught 1 fish on the first trip and then a pair of swordies on the other.

Well the weatherman cost a lot of people some enjoyment today, we had 70% chance of rain suppose to be real nasty and it was absolutely gorgeous today! Capt. Rick Stanczyk fished a half day with Danita and Charles Ramey down from North Miami area. Charles does a lot of fishing for snakeheads in fresh water around mainland areas so he wanted to give it a shot down here! We ran back around flamingo and tried tarpon fishing since I saw plenty rolling around the day before. Not much action our first stop, water was kind of nasty and wind was blowing weird SW direction, so we moved back further to hit runoffs. Caught plenty of ladyfish, jacks, and some decent trout. With a mullet on the bottom in the channel, we ended up hooking a nice 80 lb tarpon. Danita fought it for 20 minutes and we got it to the boat ,snapped some pics, and let her go. Not much else to it, fished a while longer, no reds or snooks. Tried around one of the islands on our way back, but same deal a few snappers and jacks and that was all she wrote. I've heard reports the spanish mackerel are showing up out on the edge and in the gulf now, too rough today but will be trying as soon as it lays down a bit! Looking forward to big mackerels, watch for our november islamorada fishing report florida keys.
Well it was another blustery day here in islamorada backcountry fishing on 10/26/11! I had Hack and Jill Albertson. Hack is with the Paralyzed Verterans Association who do a big trip to the marina every year. They come to Bud n' Mary's and book several guides/charters and also have a big cookout, lots of fun! We left out at 7:30 this morning, daybreak is getting later and later though will be changing time soon. We headed back to the mainland/flamingo area, took a longer ride to stay out of the chop which was nice. Unfortunately 4 boats already sitting in one area that's been hot, so we moved down the channel a little bit. Fishing was good, lots of trout, jacks, ladyfish, and few snappers early. As the tide died and got very low, caught several redfish probably 20 in all, handful of decent slot fish. Hack also caught his first snook on shrimp, unfortunately Jill lost hers, also had another one get cut off. Had to chase hacks down since it was on very light tackle, good catch! When tied died at noon we ran down the beach a bit and fished a creek. Hack caught another snook on pinfish, and we missed another bite. Also caught a handful more reds, plus various others. Ran home after that, not bad day with the conditions!
