Last Saturday had all the makings of a successful fishing trip at Flamingo in Everglades National Park: southeast breezes at 10 to 15 knots; clear skies; a smooth-running offshore open-fisherman boat; and enough tackle to cover species ranging from small baits to gigantic cobia.
