St Johns River September 26, 2010

Mike client of Eddie Bussard's Bass Challenger Guide ServiceThis past week the fishing has been very good on the Central St Johns River. The fish seem to be moving around a little more as the water temps begin to cool down with fall arriving. Before this week in order to catch a good number of fish you needed to fish a lot of different spots and catch a few in each area through out the day but on Saturday my client Mike W was greeted with a surprise at the first shiner spot we fished. The action was non stop from 6:30 am until 9 am and every shiner that hit the water was smashed by a St Johns River Largemouth Bass. Mike caught 15 from the first area we fished and many of the fish were in the 3 to 5 LB range. We finished out this 6 hr trip running and gunning looking for one of the many St Johns River Trophy Bass that live in this area but had no sucsess.

We are going through the time of year here in Central Florida when the water temps will stay the same 24 hrs a day but once we get a few nights in the mid 60's we will see those nice 70 degree water temps we all look forward to each year. We should start to see the fall shad run kick into gear sometime next month and this will get these St Johns River Bass schooling on main river points and shell beds and the artificial bite will get red hot.
