74th annual Silver Sailfish Derby results

Today was another record setting day in the 74th annual Silver Sailfish Derby, the tournaments final day. A total of 216 sailfish were released by the 35 boat fleet, brining the three day Derby total to 677 sailfish. This year’s tournament broke the record for the best 3-day catch per boat average. This years fleet averaged 6.45 sails per boat each day, besting the previous record of 6.39 sails per boat each day in the 2006 Derby. It was an awesome finish to another fantastic Silver Sailfish Derby! Total Team Standings and the Final Stats sheet are attached. • First sailfish of day 1 - Daryl Deka at 8:08 a.m. aboard the “Hard Way”
• Last sailfish of day 1 - Keith McDonald at 3:48 p.m. aboard the “Sandman”
• First sailfish of day 2 - Ralph Schiatterella at 8:06 a.m. aboard the “Miss Annie”
• Last sailfish of day 2 - Russell Firtel at 4:26 p.m. aboard the “Tales Gone Wild”
• First sailfish of day 3 -Dawn Samuels at 8:03 a.m. aboard the “Princess Lily”
• Last sailfish of day 3 - Boyd Youngblood at 2:24 p.m. aboard the “Kwik Raze”
• 33 of 35 tournament boats that fished accounted for the 174 sailfish releases on day 1.
• On Day 2 each of the 35 boats that fished released two or more sails & accounted for 287
releases.
• On Day 3, 35 of 35 boats that fished accounted for 216 releases.
• Day 2 catch per boat average was 8.2 sailfish - a new tournament record!
• The 2011 Silver Sailfish Derby set a new 3 day boat average record of 6.45 sails per boat
average. The previous record was 6.39 set in 2006.
