12/16 Better than Bones? Almost

We have had some rainy weather, but the ocean has been flat calm.

So we decided to run the reef line to see what we could get the last few days. Kings were pretty thick but fairly small. Sails are around but we need anohter cold blast to get them fired up. The Mahis were pretty small but plenty around.

We had the most fun cathing these little tuna on bonefish gear.

They are almost as fun as a bone, I wish i could catch one on a flat, I bet it would kick a bones ass.

Nice BONITA

That southern friends is a Bonita and not the nasty tasting False Albacore. Notice the longitudinal lines. You should try one of these torpedos on a 9 or ten weight fly rod. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZgoes the drag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Close, but not quite. This pretty little tuna is a skipjack and not an atlantic bonito. Both game and great eating, the skipjack has belly stripes, while the bonito a striped back.
Small tunas and light tackle are a match made in heaven!

NV

The Bertram was shipped to Ft Lauderdale on Tuesday, we are doing the finish work now. We will b putting bottom piant on her tomorrow.

We have had some major challenges with the rubrail and a few other things, so she is going much slower than I would like. I will be making a post next week with some new photos.

Thanks for asking.
