"Website Mike" here with another Black Drum Report.
Well, today started a bit differently. My brother and I arrived at our spot with 6 fresh live crabs only to find that our infamous Black Drum had recently moved off of the shoal that we had been seeing them on recently. Where in the world did they go?
We soaked baits, chummed, waited, and waited .... and only managed to see 1 small scavenger, but .. NO TAKERS.
It was time to bring out the Jon Boat. We had 1 hour to go get the boat, put it on the truck, and bring it to the spot, as we were all pressed for time. We didn't even have rope to tie it down, so I used some good ol' ghetto rigging and tied her up with 80lb mono.
Here she is:
With the boat in the water, we were off to a new start. I trolled around a bit looking to see if we could find a pod ... but we were only seeing scattered fish. Just as we were ready to call it a day ... out of the corner of my eye ... I spot a school ... they were TAILING!
I positioned the boat to cut them off, 3 baits in the water, and BAM FISH ONNN!!!! :nilly: :nilly:
The Bait ....
The Fight ....
Our Prize ....

There's nothing like sight-casting tailing Black Drum in North Bay. Tight Lines!
