Best Catch: mmm, Mrs Hays.
Ace,

I'd be sure to bet gold on a Bermuda boy building a door big enough for their fish.....

Mebbe the tail was put up on the gunwale for the lift..... when those cranes start pulling up all sorts of things start happening in a boat with fish that size and it gets mighty mucky and sweaty to free something heavy that's gone in the wrong dang place......

But heck, you could be right......maybe the door is too small. Maybe it's just a "wahoo" door ?

if you're an outsider building a boat in Maine, what you ask for is not always what you get.........

saying that, if I could do it again, it would be a 37' Duffy finished by Bradley Simmons of East Boothbay Boatworks...thanks bradley....she's bulletproof !!!!!

Aw shucks, James. Does that mean I lost the pot of gold ?

Tell me, I hear a rumour you dragged that big old girl up on a Hays Hook ? If that is true, did it distort at all ? What drag did you have on the reel at finish ?

And how's fishing been the last couple of days ?

Rumour Confirmed !!! 11/0 Hay's Hook - between 80 and 100 lbs of drag to lift a dead fish that would not plane up...the hooks are the STRONGEST I've ever seen..( fyi - i'm not sponsored of compensated by Roddy....i paid retail , but wanted the strongest hook on the market).....
the fishing continues to be great....less bites than a few days ago but quality fish....Spencer 66/ O Hana w/ Bull Tolson at the helm had a 842# die on them the day before the 'classic' tourny, - yesterday, 1st day of fishing saw a local boat bring a 832# to the scales..we let one go today that would've made the min - 500#...Bree weighed one over 660# and we pulled one off that would have contended w/ Bree's fish.........also yesterday, local boat and Always serious tourny contender " Triple Play' had a fish grab the teaser 3 times before they could pull it away...faded back and ate the flat and proceeded to air it out before pulling the hooks...ALL aboard declare it the
biggest fish they've ever seen........this is all coming from the team that won the World Cup a few years ago w/ an 1189 lder....the second Bermuda Grander to win the World Cup...

one more day of fishing tommorow before Bertha shuts things down for a few days......
