Wave Of The Day...7/12

Well here we are again amigos, thirty thousand feet above the madness and finally far enough removed from it all to put it in perspective.

The stretch marks from this latest chapter in our ongoing saga of adventure run head to toe. Each and every one of them burned deep and earned the hard way, wrought from pure, authentic experience and whole hearted passionate endeavors befallen under the guise of boat deliveries and other such facades. Who would have imagined something so innocent would evolve into something so convoluted.

"Just head over to Florida and get the new boat finished and shipped Skip"

"Aye aye Big Guy..."

That's how it started. Sounded innocent enough.

Well we should all know by now that these things are seldom what they seem. And when i disembarked from one hell of a weekend in Punta de Mita over a month ago and touched my calloused, barnacled toes to the south florida sand i should have really seen it coming. When the giant set wave of momentum builds behind you, i'm starting to learn that it's best to just dig as hard and deep as you possibly can, throw yourself over the chasm, and hope for the best.

Multi-million dollar yachts, bitchin locations, carte blanche financing, throngs of beautiful women....yeah...as Jamie O would say..."FUCK IT!!! I'M GOING!!!"

Sometimes it pays off...often it doesn't. When that screaming blue dragon rears it's head behind you and you loose all grasp of sensible direction, your life...and all that goes with it, hangs in the middle land. Will he make it???? Will the gods shine on him as that twisting meat grinder spins and cavorts around him??? Will he relinquish his soul of manipulative control and survive the ride????

SPITWHOOOOSH!!!!! The curtain falls in an avalanche of madness, and yes, the rider is still going. ALIVE!!! And this time undaunted.

Silent, he turns his head towards the beach where his eyes find them. Family, friends, and lovers freaking from the sidelines with shock and awe. Its all there for the taking. Pure satisfying experience found at the heart of the beast. The rewards are magnificent for those that show no fear while in pursuit of them.

He spins his face back towards the open ocean, skin still crawling with adrenaline, breath still fresh with freedom, eyes turned distant once again, already looking for the next one.

That was one hell of a goddamn boat delivery mission, i'm thinking. Now just what in the hell is coming next!

Like all things spinning around with us on this water covered rock, sooner or later the end becomes the beginning and there's little doubt in my mind as to why i now find myself hurtling through the atmosphere towards beautiful Vancouver Island and one of the most amazing parts of my life therein.

Cath and the kids have proven themselves as remarkable life travel companions and the best friends an adventurer like myself could have ever imagined. Love and life have a funny way of sustaining each other when hearts are pure and open enough to understand that we are only doing ourselves an injustice by pretending. I'm appalled by the current situations we all find ourselves in. My son Kalum, who's 8, is well on his way to a life of professional surfing, skating, or just about any radical endeavor he can couple a board with. He's fully sponsored by some of the big boys like Quicksilver, Sector 9, etc. and there's little doubt in my mind he'll be a superstar in his own right. If mom is any indication there's great things ahead for this little grom and i CANNOT wait to see him earn it!

My daughter Soleille, now 10, excels in intellectual endeavors like filmmaking, arts, and pushes her olympian equestrian skills daily. She has a vocabulary that would rival an Ivy league professor and when you talk to this beautiful girl it's hard to imagine she's only still a child. She speaks, like her brother, more languages than i do and i'm not really sure just how far she will take that genius, powerful mind of hers. We're getting into the really, really exciting stages of their lives that's for sure. Go gettum girl!!!

And then we have Catherine the GREAT. God works in mysterious ways amigos. I have long since given up on trying to figure out why i deserve such an incredibly powerful woman in my life. Instead i am focusing on learning how to appreciate and nurture the support and freedoms she has provided through the most wonderful ten years of my life. Her own journey is remarkable in it's own right. Unselfish, humble, yet entirely warranted and very much deserved. She is literally blowing up right now in the surfing world. Roxy is flying her all over the globe from J-Bay, South Africa to remote, unsurfed beaches in northern Canada. She's making movies, shooting features for magazines, and above all else enjoying one hell of a ride. What makes her so valuable beyond her obvious skills in the water??? She exudes STOKE and LOVE and PASSION and Roxy is cunning to take advantage of it. The last ten years have been wonderful....the next ten will be REMARKABLE!!!

Man, what can i say...i am blown away by the mysteries of this world and the every day magic that seems to permeate the place. Wonderful rewards exist out there for those of us who are not deterred by the chasm of fear and hesitation. If there's any advice i can provide to those out there who see the set approaching on the horizon, but aren't sure of their ability to catch it , all i can say is that that set wave just might be the most amazing ride of your life. If you feel inside that there's one out there with your name on it, start scratching for the beach, brace yourself when the momentum builds behind you, close your eyes and hurl yourself over the edge with everything you're got.

Sometimes you make it....the real secret is that it really doesn't matter if you don't!!!

You still went...and that, my friends, is what i'm talkin about!!!

Sooner or later we'll get that new boat to Mexico. And when we do you had all better be prepared for what's coming next!!!!

VAMANOS!!!

No confusion amigo...not all of us believe in what the Bible says marriage is supposed to be like!

Us Canexicans have a slightly broader view of the world...at least when it comes to beautiful women and fishing!

I like it. Oh and Bogii, I am not a hater I'm more envious. Josh has it going on and I think it is cool.
