hook rigs

Lets see...

Billy Lures:

Doubles , 180, semi-stiff, no swinging, hookholder for sure, ... Hays,, did i say Hays, jobu's and Hays, Hays again, and 7691s ......all of them have a place IMHO especilly Hays.... lol

Use Clear 3 to 1 with extra adhesive, or 4 to 1.... easy to detect problems before they happen; SS sleeves cause it solves the different metal issues inherent in copper/alum/zinc with SS cable. they will last the season and longer if you use the 4 to 1 over the entire cable lenght which acts as a strain relief for those nasty breakoffs at the sleeve...

Tuna lures:

Single , semi stiff, no-swing, hookholder, 7691, jobu's and Hays ... ditto

Wahoo: Whats a Hoo....

Those bycatch toothy critters..... I dunno Ask Marty !

My 3 cents

Single Semi-Stiff hook Rigs

I like mustad 7691 stainless single hook cable rigs with heat shrink over the eye of the hook and some of the cable like black barts hook rigs.

jobu

i have seen the smaller jobus snap in half. switched out all my jobu hook rigs because of that. The bigger ones may be fine.

Let's see some pics of those broken jobus, 7691's are springy and bend , not a good hook for heavy drag.

Hook Rig Choices

Marlin Lures:
Single or Double hook rigs on the medium and big lures?

Single 7691 forged stiff
Single Hays stiff
Reason - hookup ratios, ease of release, lure action

Double 180 7731/7691 forged
Reason - lure action on specific baits

Hook-Locks? Yes
Jobu? Hays? Mus 7691's? Other preferences?

Would be interested in single Hays rigs and packs.
The Dozers look interesting also.

Tuna Lures:
Single 7691s or forged semi-stiff or free
Reason - lure action, habit

Wahoo Lures:
180 7732/7691s stiff
Reason - mid-bait hook placement for mid-bait strikes

KEEP EM COMING..

Thanks for input so far, we have been putting together some different style and brand single hook rigs this week..
The "Hays" Single stiff does look deadly..

When you guys say semi stiff...What does this mean to you???
Stiff cable rig and hook; but not pinned into lure head via pick or hook lock?

What about skirt and hook alignment?
Do you guys place the bend of the hook flush with the end of skirt?
Extend it past the skirt?
Recess it up inside skirt some?
