Grander Hunting - Madeira

Well, Tracy's been at it again in Madeira. He's out there fishing the Melton boat. Three bites today. Check out the message I get from him on my blackberry on the way into the office...

Just had the teaser get piled on first wave, fish drops back, eats the long corner, then comes paddling back to eat the teaser! Ended up breaking the leader (fish must have been wrapped up). That fish was 700 or so! A 64 ft. Viking Tight Lines was 200 yards behind us fighting a 500 when we got bit. There was another fish trying to eat the stinger as well so we just missed a double.

Tracy took a SPOT Satellite Tracking device with him on the trip. It's an great device that allows him to check in with us or request assistance if an emergency situation arises. The GEOS International Emergency Response Center alerts the appropriate agencies worldwide if this function is initiated.

A subscription is required to activate the device. Once activated, you can track the device on a special dedicated SPOT page that is integrated with Google Maps. In addition, the device can be setup to send pre-programmed text messages or emails if the user checks in by pressing predetermined buttons.

Here is the Melton Tackle SPOT page (You may need to zoom out a couple notches as he's in a fairly remote area, we haven't had this problem in the US) -
http://share.findmespot.com/shared/g...9hUWKs7YZyn1M8

Also, we are getting some promotional coupons from SPOT for a very deep discount on the subscription. PM me if you're interested as we are getting the coupons in a couple days and are not planning on advertising this directly on MeltonTackle.com

Okay, just realized I didn't put any pics in this post...

Everyone likes pics, especially that Hunter@MeltonTackle.com guy...

Here are some pics that Tracy took in Madeira. They are pretty good. Enjoy!

Aha...Is that a Polu Kai Large Instigator I see?

Now that is downright awesome. I read about these spot things the other day. Talk about a great way to make your friends jealous while you're on vacation. Of course I guess it could save your life some day too!

Great pics.

Well, they got another big blue on the Grander today. Estimated at 950 lb. 11ft. Short, 72" girth. Tagged and released to fight another day. Another big fish falls for the Polukai Instigator!

Pics coming soon!

Dave,

The spot is definitely a great device. As a disclaimer, I wouldn't use it in place of an epirb, but would be a great compliment to it. And yes, it will make your friends jealous! Oh and now our wives/significant others can track us.

Photos from Madeira-Nice fish today

Guys,

Today was an awesome day on the Grander in Madeira. We had a good friend and client on the boat from Brazil, Mario Frering. He was after his first blue so I let him have the first strike.....Big mistake for me.

Fish was 11ft. Short (132 inches and 72 inch Girth)

Lure-Polukai Medium Instigator
