Carom the boss' late father, Maximo, a brilliant cardiologist, fled the communist regime in Cuba shortly after Castro took power. The boss obviously has strong roots there and the entire boat is a tribute to Maximo's life, which is itself an amazing story.

Anyway, i think the hydraulic option (which we considered) would have led to even greater nightmares down the road...so i'll swallow this sword in favor of the larger battles.

Roddy those cables should be standard issue on every serious sportfishing boat. I can't tell you how many trim tabs i've seen ripped off boats over the years. I certainly have ripped a few off during long stretches of day after day of fishing during hot bites when i simply concentrate on getting out there, getting bait, and getting bit and not the little details like lifting the tabs once i get to the grounds.

I am the first one to admit my own stupidity, and hence the first to take action in order to compensate for it!!!

No need to tell me, brother.......fished eight long weeks once in the Caribbean after a, ahem, mishap. Sounded like a wing-shot goose rattling a can of coins, we did. Interestingly enough, the fish seemed to like it but it did give us a wee problem riding the beeeg downsea swells going home from the Boulevarde. Fixed it when we hauled out the first hurricane pullout, and promptly bent the other one a week later. Took 'em both off with a snorkel and said to heck with it. Took two hands on the wheel to go home after that

I like the idea though. Mebbe the first time you put the tabs down you'll pull the swim platform off ?

We have a zinc mounted to the transom (attached to the bonding inside) that was loose for years. tightened it up last dry dock--seen fewer fish since. go figure.

and the swim step---2 boats in Cairns had them ripped off. The boat I was on (a few years b4 I worked on it) and one this past season--forget the name of the rig, but it was UGLY the mangled fiberglass mess it left behind. Hope it doesn't happen to that beauty Josh

That boat is one pretty machine! I think my favorite part of this segment of pics is the craftsmenship on the fit and finish of teak to the glass on the tuna door. Absolutley superb craftsmanship.

Never seen the cables before on the tabs. But that is no shocker. There is still a TON of things that I have not seen or done in the offshore world. Good luck and godspeed on the new rig. Neat story behind the namesake JT.

Would that be the Marlin Boulevarde St Maarten? If so which boat were you on?

Swim step, hmmmm . . . . they can be a good thing too . . . . . where have I seen a picture . . . . ahhhh . .

The only way that thing is breaking is if JT puts too much T&A on it. What is the weight capacity?
